Moving out is stressful enough without wondering whether you've missed something an agent will flag at final inspection. This checklist covers the areas that come up most often across Cranbourne, Pakenham and Berwick properties.
Kitchen
Oven interior, stovetop and range hood filter are the most commonly missed spots in a kitchen. Wipe down all benchtops, splashbacks and cupboard fronts, and don't forget the inside of the microwave and the fridge if it's staying with the property.
Bathrooms
Grout lines, shower screens and tapware build up soap scum fast. Agents will run a hand along tapware and glass looking for streaks, so a final polish pass matters as much as the deep scrub.
Living areas and bedrooms
Skirting boards, light switches, window tracks and the tops of door frames collect dust that's easy to overlook during a regular clean but very visible under an inspection light. Carpet should be vacuumed at minimum, with a steam clean if your lease requires it.
Outdoor areas
If your lease includes garden maintenance, check what condition the yard needs to be in. Cobwebs around eaves and window frames are a common last-minute miss.
If in doubt, book a professional
A thorough end of lease clean typically takes 4 to 6 hours for a 3-bedroom home when done properly. If you're short on time or want the security of a bond back guarantee, it's often cheaper than losing part of your bond over a missed spot.
